The company is now accepting volunteers for Project Relate to contribute towards multi-year research with the goal of improving Google’s speech recognition algorithms. Google ultimately wants to make sure Assistant and the rest of its voice-based features are fully capable and inclusive of people with neurological conditions or speech impairments. “Project Relate is a continuation of years of research from both Google’s Speech and Research teams, made possible by over a million speech samples recorded by participants of our research effort,” Google said in a blog post (via)....

This comes after Google had decided to break out Hangouts into many different apps. Video calling and messaging apps were separate, for consumers and workspace users. So we went from Hangouts to Duo, Allo, Chat, and Meet. Now they’ll all be in one app. Google is hoping that by bringing Duo and Meet together, it can solve a big modern communication issue. “What’s been really important is understanding how people make the choice as to what tool they’re going to use, for what purpose, in what circumstance,” says Javier Soltero, the head of Google Workspace....

Google and Citigroup (the bank that was working with Google for these bank accounts) have confirmed this report. So it is true that this is killed. A Google spokesperson stated that they are shifting focus to “delivering digital enablement for banks and other financial services providers rather than us serving as the provider of these services.” Citigroup confirmed that around 10,000 people were joining the waitlist each week, and that it had over 400,000 people on the waitlist....

Right now, Google is in the process of merging Google Duo and Google Meet into one singular service. We know that Duo is more for personal one-on-one calls, Meet is more for meetings. However, it seems that Google wants to streamline the services.
